教學目標
This course 1) examines the uses of Greek and Roman mythology in western literature -- by reading Greek and Roman versions of ancient myths and tracing the transformations and interpretations of those myths in literature; 2) provides an introduction to the ancient (classical) literature, beginning with the Homeric epics, The Iliad and The Odyssey, and ending with Cervantes’ Don Quixote; 3) to promote critical and analytical thinking about the Biblical traditions and their applications in western literature. Goals for students include: developing the ability to read literary texts carefully, closely, and enjoyably; developing an appreciation of literature as a source of moral and ethical insight and the ability, plus the confidence and the pleasure to interpret it orally and in writing.

教學目標
This course is operated with two sections. The first section will introduce basic knowledge and concepts of international relations to help student build required analytic abilities for understanding the development of current world affair. Then, students will be guided to conduct a teamwork analysis of an international event or issue and complete the analysis in form of a short research essay with a group oral presentation at the end. The objectives of this course is to enable students to recognize and understand the changing patterns of the world affairs.
